Reunion time is HERE!

Hey all,

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion Sunday in Waco!  We have some new family members to meet.  If you want to be outside please bring a lawn chair or two and desserts or snack food would be appreciated.  We are a having catered barbecue meal plus vegetarian dishes.  If you have games you want to play indoors or out, please bring them.  We have a new display of our family history that I am sure you will want to see.  There will be pictures of the 2008 Reunion at Melody Hill Ranch on the picture boards to look at, too.  We will have handouts of the family history, family tree and updated addresses for all.

Lost and Found: Mother Nell's Grandparents

I’m having so much fun researching our common ancestors for this year’s family reunion. Many of you know that my mom (Aunt Lou) has been working on our family history for some time. She recently handed down her files to me. The heyday of her research was before we had so many Internet resources. So much more is easily available online to me; it is exciting to make my own discoveries. Any day that I discover something new is a great day for me.

Today’s find is at footnote.com: a death certificate for Mother Nell’s father (Jasper Newton Fitzhugh). I didn’t have much information on the Fitzhugh line, so this is a big find for me. The most important part of this document is not that it gives me his birth and death dates (October 18, 1857 through November 13, 1927) but that it gives me his parents names (Ezekiel Fitzhugh and Jane Ford) and where they were born (Tennessee).

Yippee! That means more Tennessee relatives to research. Lula Mae Parker and her family were also from Tennessee, specifically Haywood County.

The 2011 Edmonds Family Reunion Invitation has been sent!

It is official now!  The 2011 Edmonds Family Reunion Invitation has been sent and should be in your hands by now.  Thanks to Marla for making the invitation and sending it to all of you.  All you have to do now is put the date on your calendars, tell Cindy how many are coming with you, tell Sara of any new spouses or babies to add to the Family Tree and if necessary, make your flight plans.  We are looking forward to a wonderful time visiting together.    Sara

The final decision!

Ok gang, be sure and mark your calendars NOW for the next Edmonds Family Reunion!  It will be held in Waco's newly remodeled Cameron Park Clubhouse on Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 10 am until 4 pm.  We hope to see all of you there.  I am hearing that Anna has been busy preparing some family history to share with us.  There have been several new babies that I know of and four marriages since the last reunion so please make plans to attend and visit with family, young and old.  I am getting excited to see all of you again!

Just got some GOOD news..........

Cindy came through with some terrific news about the availability of the Cameron Park Clubhouse for the summer of 2011.  Seems every Sunday is available in July and August so we are offering you a choice of Sunday, July 17, 2011 OR Sunday, August 7, 2011.  I have taken into account what you have emailed me about kids in school and obligations around certain dates and these two choices seem to be the best without getting too close to the beginning of the fall school year.

We will incur a cost of $55 per each Edmonds branch to rent the clubhouse in addition to the catered meal.  No money is due until the actual reunion.

Any questions?  No, the clubhouse is booked every Saturday in July and August.  Yes, they upgraded the AC.

Send me your preferences and we can get this show on the road.  Yippee!

After hearing from some more of you...

As I thought, school is a big issue with some and we don't want to leave out the younger generation involved in college bands and school functions in the fall.  We are currently checking into the availability of the Cameron Park Clubhouse for 2011 for a summer reunion and will get back to you with the information soon.

Just getting started .........

It is time to start thinking about another family reunion and 2011 is just around the corner.  The last Edmonds Family Reunion was held in 2008 at Melody Hill Ranch in Burton, TX around July 4 and it was HOT.  We still had a great time but now we are thinking a fall month, October, in particular may be cooler.  I know this poses problems for those in school or teaching school but it is a trade off.  Leave me some comments on what month and day, Saturday or Sunday, you think we ought to look at for the 2011 Edmonds Family Reunion.

Also, do you think this blog is a good way to keep in contact?

I would love to see you all at our place again in 2011.
